Fioricet
Fioricet is used to relieve pain and reduce the temperature. Fioricet belongs to a class of barbiturates which affect the central nervous system slowing down brain and nerve impulses causing relaxation. Caffeine found in the medicine constricts blood vessels, the expansion of which leads to headaches caused by stress.

Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other activities demanding your full attention. Fioricet may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Do not take sleeping pills, antihistamines, sedatives and tranquilizers without a doctor's supervision. All of these drugs also increase drowsiness. You should avoid alcohol. Drinking alcohol during Fioricet therapy can be very damaging to your liver and increase drowsiness and dizziness. When buying the drug without a prescription, pay attention to the fact that the medicine contains acetaminophen. Daily intake of acetaminophen should not exceed 4 grams (4000 mg). If the pain does not stop, consult a physician.
This drug is addictive and should therefore be taken under strict medical supervision. Take the medicine within the prescribed time limit, strictly observing the dosage and frequency of use.
Do not take Fioricet without first talking to your doctor if you drink more than three drinks per day, or suffer from liver disease caused by alcohol. In this case you cannot take Fioricet, or you may require a reduced dose. Do not take Fioricet if you have porphyria.
Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor if you suffer from any of the following conditions:
• kidney disease;
• liver disease.
You will not be able to take Fioricet, or you may require a reduced dose and special monitoring during treatment if you have one of the conditions listed above.
Fioricet falls under the category C according to FDA classification of drugs. This means that the harmful effects of the drug on the fetus have not been proved. Do not take medicine if you are pregnant without consulting your doctor first.
Fioricet is not recommended for children younger than 12 years.
Do not abuse caffeine. During the course of drug treatment, pay attention to the caffeine content in food, beverages (coffee, tea, colas), medications, prescription and OTC.
